Crystal Hefner: Von Brüsten vergiftet

Schon seit Jahren litt Crystal Hefner unter verschiedensten Krankheitssymptomen. Es fing mit Rückenschmerzen und Müdigkeit an. Das ignorierte die Ehefrau von Playboy-Gründer Hugh Hefner. Statt sich ernsthafte Sorgen über ihre Gesundheit zu machen, machte sie Witze, weil ihre Erinnerung nachließ: "Ich stempelte mich selbst als Hypochonder ab."

Langes Leiden

Doch die Symptome wurden schlimmer und Crystal konnte sie nicht mehr ignorieren: Lebensmittelintoleranzen, unerklärliche Rückenschmerzen, ständige Schulter- und Nackenschmerzen, kognitive Fehlleistungen, wiederkehrende Infektionen... Und ständig diese Müdigkeit. "Es gab 2016 Tage, an denen ich nicht aus dem Bett kam. Ich fühlte mich so verzweifelt, weil ich wusste, dass um mich herum das Leben war, aber ich konnte nicht teilhaben."

Es wurde so schlimm, dass die Blondine gegen nahezu alle Nahrungsmitteln Allergien entwickelte. Im Frühjahr kam dann die Diagnose Lyme-Borreliose. Crystal ging damit an die Öffentlichkeit und wurde von den Reaktionen überrascht. Viele Frauen schrieben ihr, dass ihre Symptome nach einer "Brust-Implantats-Krankheit" klingen.

Rettende Operation

Die 30-Jährige begann nachzuforschen und erkannte schnell, dass die Symptome tatsächlich mit ihren Leiden übereinstimmen. Am 15. Juni unterzog Crystal Hefner sich einer Operation und ließ ihre Implantate entfernen: "Ich habe sofort bemerkt, dass meine Nacken- und Schulterschmerzen verschwunden sind und ich viel besser atmen kann. Ich weiß, dass ich mich nicht über Nacht zu 100 Prozent gut fühlen werde. Es hat acht Jahre gedauert, bis sie mich so krank gemacht haben. Ich weiß also, es wird dauern, bis ich mich besser fühle."

Vorbild-Funktion

Das einstige Playmate fordert ihre Fans auf, Frauen mit Implantaten, die unter ähnlichen Symptomen leiden, auf die Gefahren aufmerksam zu machen: "Viele meiner Freundinnen haben Implantate. Ich mache mir Sorgen um ihre Gesundheit und hoffe, dass sie und alle von dem profitieren, was ich erlebt habe."

I’ve tried to keep a facade of normalcy while working to figure out what was going on with my body. Once I became allergic to most every food, had intolerable pain, developed stomach issues and night sweats, I began to research. I found a holistic doctor (Dr. Farshid Rahbar) and was tested for everything. After I was diagnosed with Lyme disease and toxic mold, I posted about it on social media. I began to receive comments saying that my symptoms resembled "Breast Implant Illness." I found a Breast Implant Illness website and Facebook group with almost 3,000 members. My symptoms matched theirs. Over time, implants (both silicone and saline) break down and wreak havoc on your body.
