Mozarts letzte Oper Die Zauberflöte hat Harnoncourt bisher in drei Produktionen dirigiert: 1988 an der Wiener Staatsoper, 1986 und 2007 am Opernhaus Zürich. Nun musiziert der wichtigste Mozart-Dirigent und Großmeister des Originalklangs mit seinem Concentus Musicus Schikaneders Maschinenkomödie mit Mozarts göttlicher Musik erstmals bei den Salzburger Festspielen.
